GP Specialist Training Scheme Scarborough

The area of the Scarborough General Practice Specialty Training Programme includes some of the most exhilarating coastal and moor-land scenery in the country. Based in Scarborough, the sea is never far away, with dramatic cliff top walks and beautiful beaches. The small market towns of Malton and Pickering, and historic, coastal towns and villages such as Whitby, Filey and Robin Hoods Bay are on the doorstep. Several of the training practices are to be found within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with its picture book villages and valleys, and wild heather clad moorland.

The Scarborough General Practice Specialty Training Scheme is a friendly training programme, offering learner-centered education, tailored to address individual needs. It provides the widest possible General Practice experience, with training practices in the centre of Scarborough, small towns with community hospitals, and in delightful rural settings, including the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. Several innovative posts are available, combining General Practice with Palliative care, Emergency Psychiatry & Rheumatology. All registrars have the opportunity of individual educational supervision, and learning time is carefully protected. The surgeries on the scheme are: Danes Dyke, West Ayton, Whitby Group, Eastfield, Filey, Belgrave, Prospect Road, and Danby.

Hospital specialties available in Scarborough are: Accident & Emergency, ENT and Ophthalmology, General Medicine (Rheumatology & Rehabilitation), Medicine for the ElderlyObstetrics & Gynaecology,   Psychiatry, and  Paediatrics.
